STYLE IN PROGRESS IS TOMORROW. IT'S A SMALLER VERSION, BUT I'M GLAD THAT THE SPIRIT STILL LIVES IN SOME WAY, SHAPE OR FORM...
Performers and Fans,
I’m sorry to announce that this years Style In Progress festival and
concert has been cancelled. Due to disagreements the main sponsor has
pulled out of the event and Style In Progress could not afford to cover
the many costs necessary to hold the main event at Dundas Square.
It was not easy to find sponsors for this years event and it looked
hopeful when a sponsor was found only days before the financial deadline.
Unfortunately that sponsor and the company Style In Progress could not
come to an agreement over what was in my opinion a relatively simple
issue. I personally am extremely disappointed in what happened and so as
a result I have decided after 6 years of planning SIP events that I am
stepping down from my position as Music Director.
I know a lot of performers were looking forwards to getting on stage and
playing for the fans and I’m not happy about the giant let down to them,
the reasons why and the way that it happened. I believe that this
disagreement could have been resolved without the sponsor pulling out. I
will no longer be working with the company Style In Progress or on any
future events associated with them. I will however continue to work on
events with other promoters who I've worked with during my time at SIP and
I hope that this unfortunate event is not a reflection of the job that I
did or my work ethic. I did everything that I could to try to make things
come together and it's only right that I stand by the artists and leave
the company. I hope that I can work with you again on future endeavors.
It was a fun ride for me but all good things must come to an end. Thank
you again for your volunteered participation in what would have been the
greatest year for SIP yet.
Feel free to respond to this email and to ask any questions or leave any
comments that you wish. For future dealings with Style In Progress please
refer to their website: http://www.styleinprogress.ca.
Thank You,
Sonny Phono

WOW. JEEZY, I NEVER KNEW:
http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/fre...s-of-bmf-coke/
Testimony offered yesterday in the federal government’s cocaine-conspiracy case against alleged Black Mafia Family member Fleming “Ill” Daniels revealed a stunning allegation: According to a witness, Atlanta hip-hop superstar Jay “Young Jeezy” Jenkins received kilos of cocaine from BMF.
Jeezy has not been charged with a crime in relation to the allegation. When asked whether there is an open investigation into the rapper, Justice Department spokesman Patrick Crosby said he had no comment.
Scott Leemon, the New York-based lawyer who represented Jeezy on weapons charges out of Miami in 2006, told CL “obviously, I am not going to comment on anything. I will look into it.”
The allegation was raised in U.S. District Court in Atlanta this week by a BMF member named Ralph “Ralphie” Simms. Simms was indicted last year in a related federal drug case in L.A. He told the jury that in exchange for his truthful testimony in the case against Daniels, he hoped to receive a reduced sentence.
Simms testified that his job was to unload BMF’s cocaine from limos outfitted with secret compartments. He said he piled as many as 100 “bricks” of cocaine at a time inside the basement of one of BMF’s stash houses, an ultra-modern Buckhead mansion nicknamed “Space Mountain.” And he said that on one occasion, in the fall of 2004, he was ordered by high-ranking BMF members Chad “J-Bo” Brown and Martez “Tito” Byrth to set aside multi-kilo cocaine “shipments” for two customers. Simms said the customers picked up the coke from him at Space Mountain.
When asked by assistant U.S. Attorney Robert McBurney who the customers were, Simms gave two names: William “Doc” Marshall, a high-level BMF co-conspirator who testified earlier in the trial, and “Jeezy.”
“Young Jeezy the rapper?” McBurney asked.
“Yes,” Simms answered.
Jeezy’s name cropped up several times in the first two days of testimony, but only in relation to his well-publicized friendship with BMF’s Atlanta-based leader, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. In November, Flenory pleaded guilty in Detroit to running a continuing criminal enterprise. He faces a minimum sentence of 20 years.
BMF is believed to have employed 500 people across the country in its $270 million cocaine ring — nearly 150 of whom have been indicted in seven states. According to testimony in Daniels’ trial this week, BMF only dealt in multiple kilos of cocaine, which were distributed to other cocaine dealers.
Daniels, who was described during testimony as BMF’s third-in-command under Flenory, was indicted along with 15 co-defendants last year in Atlanta. (Daniels also faces a murder charge in Fulton County Superior Court.) He is the only local defendant to go to trial on the federal charges. Nine of his co-defendants, including the rapper Barima “Bleu DaVinci” McKnight, pleaded guilty over the past two weeks. Another four are fugitives.
Jury deliberations in the case against Daniels began today.

Victims Of Peel Murders Identified
Tuesday July 1, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
In just one hour, two men were brutally murdered in shootings that Peel Police claim are not connected.
Police were called to a Canada Day party at a Brampton home on Woodsend Run, near Mavis Road and Highway 407, around 11:30pm Monday. When officers arrived they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Glenford Asan Reid, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Because it was a house party, there are several witnesses that need to be interviewed. It is going to take some time to get through them. This will be an extensive investigation," Const. Samantha Nulle explained.
Sorting through the chaos will be a huge task for investigators, as those who were at the bash can attest. Rashmi, who lives in the area, couldn't believe what he saw.
"It was like a stampede, okay? It's like they're spread out across everywhere, like around this area. They're running," he claims.
"Yes. There's like women with children holding on, people running," Rashmi adds.
"They were not finding their cars," describes Mayan.
Police have yet to find the perpetrator.
"It's too early to tell at this time suspect information. However, we are encouraging anyone with any information or any knowledge or any involvement in this homicide to please come forward to our homicide bureau," Const Nulle urged.
The second victim, 37, was taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
In a strange coincidence, neighbours say the police were at the address the night before.
There was a domestic dispute at the same house and a woman called 911. Witnesses claim she could be heard yelling to the operator: "Is it going to take someone to get killed for you guys to show up here?"
About half an hour after Reid was murdered, shots rang out at an apartment building less than 20 kilometres away in Malton.
Gunfire was heard in the apartment on Darcel Avenue just before midnight and officers discovered one man dead when they arrived.
Orrin Marlon Earle, pictured above, was 28 years old when he was found in his third floor apartment.
"He was found with no vital signs and was not transported to hospital," Const. JP Valade said.
An autopsy shows this one was likely personal - he died from a bullet wound to the face.
The unexpected shooting has residents understandably shaken.
"We just heard the gunshot, probably three gunshots. And some people running here after that. We were afraid so we just stayed in," worries neighbour Ariel Rival.
Some in the building have canceled their long weekend plans because of Earle's death.
"This is Canada Day. We were supposed to celebrate this, but this time, you know, people are especially here in the apartment, they are afraid," Rival continues. "No celebration at all."
Authorities haven't outlined motives for the murders, which are the 13th and 14th homicides in Peel Region this year.
Despite the close proximity of the crimes, detectives say these shootings aren't linked.

Malton man slain
By BRETT CLARKSON, SUN MEDIA
Kids' bikes, toys, and piles of garbage lay scattered on the back lawn of a Malton apartment building where a man was shot dead late Monday.
Orrin Marlon Earle, 28, was gunned down in an apartment on Darcel Ave., near Derry Rd. and Hwy. 427, about 11:50 p.m. Monday.
Peel police were urging witnesses yesterday to come forward to help solve the region's 14th homicide of the year.
"We've spoken to a few witnesses but we're appealing to anybody else who may have seen something to call the homicide bureau," Const. Wayne Patterson said.
The shooting happened about 30 minutes after another murder at a house party in Brampton. There's no evidence to suggest the two killings are related.
NO DESCRIPTION YET
There were several people at Earl's apartment when "an individual" showed up and Earl was shot, Insp. Norm English said.
English said police don't have a description of the killer and that a motive remained undetermined. He said at least one of the several people inside the apartment fled before cops arrived.
Children playing outside the three-storey building yesterday claimed to have known the dead man.
"He's my friend," one 8-year-old boy claimed. "He fixed my bike yesterday, before he got shot."
