STICKY FINGAZ IS THE MOTHERFUCKIN MAN. AND THE MOTHERFUCKIN MOVIE DIRECTOR:
Directed by Sticky Fingaz and featuring Mekhi Pfifer, Omar Epps, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Rapaport, Faizon Love, Malinda Williams, Treach, Tyrin Turner, Drena De Niro (Robert De Niro’s daughter), Clarence Williams III, Ray J, Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr.
While it might be considered a “movie musical or a hip-hop opera,” Sticky Fingaz describes it as “Godfather Meets Romeo & Juliet.” When asked why he decided against straight dialogue, he explains, “I’m an artist and I create music and at the same time, I’m an actor so it made sense to try something innovative and merge the two together. We’ll be doing the same with Onyx’s Black Rock album, merging hip-hop and rock. It’s a way of tapping into both sides of myself.”

PEACE TO DJ GREEN LANTERN:
DJ Green Lantern’s power ring could use a charge. The sleep-deprived mix master is barely audible over the phone but with good reason. He’s been bouncing from city to city moving the crowd as Nas’ DJ on the Jones Experience Tour. But if anything can perk him up it’s the prospect of the first African-American President of the United States.
“This is a historic time we live in,” he says of Barack Obama's Democratic party nomination. Green Lantern produced the track “Black President” on Nas’ latest CD, Untitled. “If I can indirectly have a hand it in that’s really crazy. He’s come a long way and fought for a whole lot of things his whole life and I’m just shocked and amazed that we’re at this point with it.”
Green Lantern was originally scheduled to make a trip to Washington D.C this past weekend to attend the Million DJ March, but scheduling with the tour made that impossible. However, he is still in support of the march’s mission.
“I support the idea,” he says. “Get some health benefits [for DJs] and organize to a point, hold people accountable. There’s strength in numbers.”
Green Lantern is also putting the finishing touches on a Barack Obama mixtape but has taken his time putting it out for obvious reasons. Ludacris (for whom Green Lantern produced "#1 Spot" ) was lambasted in the press for calling Hillary Clinton a “bitch” in a pro-Obama mixtape song.
“The Republicans have their agenda which is to test [Barack] ‘That’s your homey, right? That’s your man?’ So he has to go ‘hold up.’ I think it would have been taken lighter if he was already in the office,” Green Lantern reasons. “Right now he’s under a lot of scrutiny to be the perfect person. But in hip-hop we use aggressive language."
Nevertheless, Lantern has made the appropriate adjustments for his own collection of pro-Obama songs.
“I just wanted it to be something that he could stand behind ,” he says of the delay in making the tape. “I was getting verses from people and had to go back and say ‘yo, this is a little over the stop,’ so I was waiting for the revisions and a lot of them never came. I gotta keep it movin’. I don’t want to put anything out that he can’t be next to.”
After the tour Green Lantern will be promoting shows for the Grand Theft Auto soundtrack that he has produced, but you can check him every monday night on his “Team Invasion" show on Sirius Satellite radio with host (And Skin Deep model) Sharon Divine.

THE 15 BEST PARTS OF OBAMA'S NOMINATION SPEECH... WHICH I THOUGHT WAS LACKING:
Highlights from “America’s Promise,” delivered by Sen. Barack Obama, August 28, 2008, Denver, Colorado
1. “I get it. I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don't fit the typical pedigree…”
2. "Out of work? Tough luck. No health care? The market will fix it. Born into poverty? Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps - even if you don't have boots. You're on your own."
3. “What the nay-sayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's been about you.”
4. “If you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare the voters. If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.”
5. “We are more compassionate than a government that lets veterans sleep on our streets and families slide into poverty; that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns before our eyes.”
6. “I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and Independents across this great land - enough!”
7. “John McCain likes to say that he'll follow bin Laden to the Gates of Hell - but he won't even go to the cave where he lives.”
8. “That's the promise of America - the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise or fall as one nation; the fundamental belief that I am my brother's keeper; I am my sister's keeper.”
9. “It's not because John McCain doesn't care. It's because John McCain doesn't get it.”
10. “John McCain has voted with George Bush ninety percent of the time…I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to take a ten percent chance on change.”
11. “The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.”
12. “Now is the time to keep the promise of equal pay for an equal day's work, because I want my daughters to have exactly the same opportunities as your sons.”
13. “On November 4th, we must stand up and say: "Eight is enough."
14. “It is that American spirit - that American promise - that pushes us forward even when the path is uncertain; that binds us together in spite of our differences; that makes us fix our eye not on what is seen, but what is unseen, that better place around the bend.”
15. “America, we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone. At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future.”

JINX DA JUVY SHOT IN THE HEAD, BUT SURVIVES. KOOL G. RAP'S HOMIE AND RUSSELL SIMMONS' HOMIE NEEDS TO TAKE IT EASY:
Brooklyn bred rapper Jinx Da Juvy was shot in the head and wounded last weekend, AllHipHop.com has confirmed.
The 22-year-old rapper, who has been mentored by Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons for some years, was involved in an altercation in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn last Friday (August 22).
During the fracas, a number of rounds were fired, with one round striking Jinx in the back of the head.
“He was out there late at night going to his spot to get clothes. Something popped off and he was on the block and next you know s**t jumps off,” Jinx’s manager Phil Gates told AllHipHop.com. “Brownsville is serious right now.”
The rapper’s skull was cracked as a result of the gunshot wound, which grazed the back of his head and left an open wound.
Jinx, born Derek Carr, is currently at home recovering from the incident, which is his third time being shot since the age of 16.
According to Gates, the incident has opened Jinx’ eyes.
“He’s at the point now where he realizes he can’t play both sides of the fence,” Gates said. “He’s not going to put himself in this position again. He sees what he has to lose, his brother was bugging out and upset, not to mention that businesses that we have already lined up.”
Jinx, who hails from the Langston Hughes projects in Brooklyn, was originally signed to Kool G. Rap’s Igloo Entertainment production company.
After a deal with Def Jam went sour, Jinx signed with Russell Simmons’ Russell Simmons Music Group.
With that label also defunct, Jinx and his manager Phil Gates have taken an independent approach, recording, releasing and distributing music via their label, Strong Enough Entertainment (S.E.E.).
As Jinx recovers, Gates will oversee Strong Enough Entertainment’s various endeavors, which includes the Strong Enough Achievers Foundation (S.E.A.), an organization dedicated to youth literacy.
Jinx will continue to receive medical attention as he recovers from his gunshot wound.
“He’s not 100 % together yet, so I have to be careful not to move him too fast on his recovery,” Gates said of the rapper, who recently enrolled in college and will continue to pursue a career in music.

PEACE TO PHARCYDE, ATMOSPHERE AND MOS DEF. FUCK THE POLICE:
Much like last week's political activity in Denver Co., the mix of protesters, police and an excited crowd nearly turned violent during the Take Back Labor Day concert performance on Harriet Island, MN. The event was originally billed as "a festival to celebrate worker's achievements and to promote a New Vision for the 21st Century," with a crowd of nearly 20,000 to watch Mos Def, Pharcyde and Atmosphere [click to read] perform with rock acts such as Tom Morello and Steve Earle.
Things took a decidedly different turn when violence broke out among a group of 10,000 staging a peaceful protest. After the Service Employees International Union officials sponsoring the event tried unsuccessfully to calm down the crowd, local police shut down the Wabasha Bridge connecting Harriet Island to nearby St. Paul, where the Republican National Convention is currently being held. When the crowd was redirected to a different bridge, police arrested nearly 100 people (video below) and also used tear gas canisters and rubber bullets. According to Minnesota Public Radio, police made 284 arrests, with 130 people booked on felony charges, 51 on gross misdemeanors and 103 for misdemeanors.

JUELZ TOLD THIS TO MISSINFO.TV ABOUT THAT ROBBERY THAT SUPPOSEDLY HAPPENED:
http://www.missinfo.tv/index.php/2008/09/02/juelz-releases-a-statement-on-his-london-altercation/
"Landing back into New York City today, Juelz Santana, DipSet Member and CEO of his very own SKULL GANG Records was faced with rumors about his European Tour that took place from Thursday, August 21st to Monday, September 1st.
On Sunday, August 31st, an angry Promoter visited the hotel where Santana and his travel party of eleven (11) were staying. Preparing to perform at the Sheperd Bush Empire in London that night, the SOLD OUT event was cancelled when sparks started to fly. “Bottom line, my former Manager along with an ex group member (no specific names mentioned due to the “No Snitching” rule)*** accepted an astronomical amount of money for a paid date that never happened or was ever brought to my knowledge. I was NOT robbed. My Staff and I were kicked out of our original hotel for the commotion. The Promoter; myself and my DipSet Associate Blackadon, worked out the outstanding issue like bosses do. They even drove us to a recommended hotel after we worked out the differences”, states Santana…..
(***yikes)
But more importantly, I’ll post clips of my phone call with Juelz after I’m done with celeb drama…
More from Juelz’s press statement…..
“The London and Wolverhampton shows were cancelled by the UK Police minutes before show time due to the hotel commotion and the Police’s inability to handle the turn out”, states Lynn Hobson, Publicist for Santana who was on site during the chaos.
Juelz Santana along with JR Writer and SKULL GANG Members Richmond Rab and DJ Tobb Cobain invaded Europe on a nine date tour. Amsterdam; Rotterdam; Sweden; Switzerland; Norway (Trondheim, Bergen, and Oslo) London (Police Cancellation); and Wolverhampton (Police Cancellation) all received the Rap Artist with open arms.
And though it’s DipSet for life, Juelz is currently concentrating on the SKULL GANG mixtape featuring DJ Tobb Cobain; Richmond Rab; Unkasa; Starr; John Depp; and Deniro entitled, THE NEW MOVEMENT TO MOVE WITH which will be released on September 11th."

WILL THEY MAKE 'MONEY' THE NEXT SINGLE? I'M LISTENING TO IT NOW, AND IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE JAMS ON 'LAX'. GAME IS A PSYCHO:
The Game's L.A.X. album made noise with the Lil Wayne assisted "My Life," and the Keyshia Cole assisted "Game's Pain." Now, The Game is talking about his next single and it may just be a solo record. Still, he was lent a hand by a production duo. Those wondering how he chose beats for the album and what his next single may be should read on.
"Whenever I call a producer and tell them how I want the beat to be, I paint a picture," he told MTV of his beat selection process. "I called Just Blaze, and I'll be like, 'Yo, picture Jay-Z being in an elevator in the Bronx. ... It's broke, and all of sudden he presses the garage button and it shoots through the roof. He lands on Jupiter. And he walks out in all black. I want that record!' And Blaze will be like, 'All right. I'm about to do that record.'
"When you listen to my album and people say, 'You know how to pick beats' — nah, I know how to pick scenarios and producers who understand my scenarios and know how to transform them into music," he added. "When it comes out the speakers, it sounds like what I asked for."
One track, which may end up being the next single, is also making noise. That would be the Cool & Dre produced "Money."
"Cool & Dre did that beat. It's Miami, sounds Miami. If it is the next single, we gonna shoot the video in Miami. 'Money' is gonna be a big record. I'mma let the streets pick the single. If I had my way, 'Let Us Live' would be it. That's my favorite joint on the album probably."

DR. OCTAGON GONNA DIE:
Fans of veteran emcee Kool Keith know that he has several characters within his arsenal of releases. After separating temporarily from The Ultramagnetic MC's in the mid-'90s to pursue solo work, Keith explored his two most prolific incarnations.
Dr. Octagon, released in 1996, through the then fledging Dreamworks Records, came in the form of Dr. Octagonecologyst. The release remains seminal for its groundbreaking production, courtesy of Bay area stalwarts Dan The Automator, DJ Shadow, Kutmasta Kurt and turntablist DJ Q-Bert, mixed with Keith's stream of consciousness vocal content. Some critics have argued that the release was the archetype for "acid rap."
Three years later, Dr. Dooom, another Kool Keith persona, "murdered" Octagon on the intro to 1999's First Come, First Served, an effort furthering the longtime working relationship with producer Kutmasta Kurt.
After 2006 witnessed The Return of Dr. Octagon, the two forces are apparently at it again. To be released September 23 on Threshold Recordings, Dr. Dooom 2 sees another body in "R.I.P. Dr. Octagon." Nearly entirely produced yet again by Kurt, the effort features 15 tracks, including single "Do Not Disturb."
Of the release, Kutmasta Kurt said, "It's a marked improvement on the original, and a step back into the sound and style that helped to make Keith the cult figure, and fan favorite artist he is today." Keith quickly added, "To the critic's who want to try and compare this album to the first Dr Dooom, fuck you!"

GAME MURKS THE G-UNIT'S LAST PROJECT WITH CONTROVERSY AND ALL THE GUESTS IN THE WORLD:
The months of delays and push-backs had little effect on The Game’s momentum, as the Compton MC’s L.A.X. debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 with over 220,000 copies sold.
The album marks Game’s third consecutive #1 debut.
Adamant to fans and media alike this will be his last album, Game feel assured that this album is a fitting end to his legacy as a solo artist and quiets critics who questioned his songwriting ability.
“Being #1 for the third time makes me feel good, especially since I put my all into this album,” a proud Game explained to AllHipHop.com. “There should be no doubt by the critics if a label, producer or hook singer can stagger my ability to make songs or an album. I hope my fans enjoy this one more than others, because this one defines me, my life, and my place in Hip-Hop.”
On iTunes alone, the album sold 130,000 copies the first day of release.
Manager and mogul Jimmy Rosemond is equally ecstatic about Game success, but seriously doubts the Compton native will hang up the mic after achieving this milestone.
“Sometimes it takes three #1 albums to convince you, that just maybe you shouldn’t retire,” Rosemond reflected. “Game has beat the odds with a classic and great album.”
Black Wall Street/Czar DJ Young Legend echoes Rosemond’s words, but is more impressed that Game was able to deliver in spite of all the legal, personal, and professional conflicts that have played out in the media over the past year.
“L.A.X. is a classic album from front to back,” Young Legend exclaimed. “Even through all the adversity and drama, Game managed to deliver his third classic album to his fans. You can never count the Game out!’”
L.A.X. features a staggering guest list of today’s top Hip-Hop and R&B stars: Lil Wayne, Nas, Ice Cube, DMX, Ludacris, Common Raekwon, Chrisette Michele, Raheem DeVaughn, Bilal, Ne-Yo, LaToya Williams, and Keyshia Cole.
Game’s third album L.A.X. is available now in stores and through iTunes download.
